He had no magic before he passed the ordeal of the Ocean, and was not expected to succeed. Only moments after he emerged from the Ocean, Kaelor used erilim to rip the barrier between the worlds. Gerimon used his power to stop the rending at the expense of his life, but could not completely seal it without sephlim. Therefore Adrin and Lainnys used the key aralim to go to Earth to find sephlim to close the gap completely
